Education:
Karen's educational experience includes completing coursework at St. Cloud State University (SCSU) to obtain her Special Education Directorship license. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration and Leadership from SCSU. Additionally, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Art Education from the University of Minnesota.
Experience:
Karen has over 20 years experience in the education sector. She began her career as a Special Education teacher for Pine City Public Schools, Minnesota. In 1999, Karen began working for the Minnesota Department of Education. She worked for MDE for a total of seven years acting as an Education Specialist for two years and the final five as a Compliance Monitor. From there Karen became a Special Education Administrative Intern for the Department of Special Education, Anoka-Hennepin School. After completing her internship, she soon found herself working for ISES as a Special Education Director. After two years of hard-work and devotion, Karen was given the role as Executive Director of ISES.
Personal Side:
On a personal note, Karen is married and has two wonderful children and is also a grandmother of two rambunctious toddlers. In her free time, she enjoys quilting, scrapbooking and spending time with her family.
